Loss of sleep.

Is it just me or are there any other WFF wives that lose sleep when hubby's are gone. For some reason, my body just doesn't want to go to sleep. I feel sleepy so I go to bed, can't close my eyes, so I turn on the TV or read. Next thing I know it's like 3:ooam and I know I should sleep but just can't. This only happens when DH is gone. Do any of you experience this or am I alone on this one??

My husband used to be a Smokejumper. I can appreciate the sleepless nights. Thought they would end when he got injured though; but, he then retrained as Air Attack flying above the fires instead. My sleepless nights continued. He got promoted a couple times after and is now a boring manager and I am a very rested wife. I am sorry to say I never acquired any magical-sleep tactics; just know you're not in the rocky boat alone. (P.S. I did use to hug his pillow. silly...huh?) Sincerely, WFF x 2.

I too used to have trouble sleeping when my husband was working a fire. If I know he is just at the station I sleep fine, but once I get that call that he has gone out on Strike Team, I go back to my "light" sleeping patterns just like I did when my kids were little. I find if I keep my cell phone turned up loud and right next to me, I sleep much better.

My hubby isn't wildland, but I don't sleep well even when he's at the station. He was just out of town for a few days and it was miserable. Toss and turn, try to read, watch movies I've seen a million times, I feel for you since your husbands are gone for longer periods. I don't know how I'd do with that. Do you get used to it then?

I have finally gotten a sleep aid from my doc for nights I know it's going to be bad so I can function the next day a little.

New Follower here! New WFF wife as well! This is the fourth season together, and I still have plenty of nights of lost sleep while he is on a roll. His 3 week dispatch to Texas in April completely ruined my sleep schedule. Hopefully, this new assignment in NM won't be too bad.
