My husband's crew is at the top of the dispatch list for fires in other states. With new fires popping up in Wyoming, South Dakota & Colorado, there is a high likely hood that he might not be home tonight. I went grocery shopping last night and off to get some more today. Another sure way to get him sent to a fire. The joke amongst myself and other WFFW is that when you buy groceries, plan a dinner or make family plans, that increases their chances of going somewhere. I feel like our son knows what might happen today, because this morning he asked my husband "sit with me and watch TV, don't go anywhere." That doesn't happen much as he knows Daddy is busy getting ready for work in the morning.
It's the simple things in life that mean the most.

Any solid plans around here mean that we are probably going to get an assignment. We are planning our wedding for November and we were supposed to drive to the nearest boutique to order my dress today (his day off). BK's engine wasn't even the next available to be sent out, but sure enough after getting to the duty station yesterday morning, they got the call to go out.
As a vollie wife, any plans means the tones go off. I know that all too well. My kids and I appreciate being able to eat a meal from start to finish with FF at the table so much. It really is the simple things.
I've nominated you for an award, please come check out my blog!!
I've been married to a WFF for 12 years now. Our joke is that every time I shave my legs, he's not coming home. And sure enough, 3/4 of the time, he is sent off on an assignment that day.
