14 days!!!

When we first got married, fire assignments were 21 days.  And like most of you know, that's 21 days on an assignment, not total time gone.  So it could be almost 24 days counting travel.  And then the federal government would give them 2 days off......so kind!!!  Now the assignments, generally are 14 days, plus travel.  Some are shorter, some can be longer, if they get extended. and for 14 days, they get 2 days off.  Well hubby is headed home after doing his 14.  Good thing is his travel distance is close enough, he'll be home for dinner tonight.  He's going to be greeted with GIANT HUGS from a happy little boy, a sweet little girl, and a very thankful wife.  Thankful that his assignment was safe, and that he's back home with us.

Yesterday I told my son we were staying home, because we needed to straighten up the house for Daddy.  You know the things like, put away all the laundry that's been on the couch, finish dishes, and put things away.  Well my son told Grandma that he couldn't talk on the phone because Daddy is coming home and we have work to do.  That boy cracks me up!!!

So it's been a long 2 weeks, but today seems like it's going so slow.  Can't wait until we hear on the scanner that they are "back in station" and see Daddy walk in the door.  Plans for a nice dinner are BBQ burgers, corn on the cob, watermelon, beans & cold beer.

We are excited to show him all his Father's Day gifts, too.  My son has laid them all on Daddy's nightstand.  Plus, we put up a hammock, under the shade trees, for him to relax.
