A Fire Camp experience PART 2
So with no tent and no sleeping bag, I walked back to my car and made a make shift bed. Put the window shades up for privacy & laid back the passenger seat to recline. I couldn't help it but chuckle at the thought of sleeping in my car at a fire camp. It was really warm when I went to sleep, so I rolled all the windows down for air. I'm assuming since there are people sleeping on cots and in their tents around me, it should be safe to roll down my windows. This whole sleeping arrangement made me appreciate what my husband does even more. If he can sleep on bugs, rocks and in the dirt, then I could be thankful I was sleeping in my car. However, the next problem I thought about as I laid there, was how in the world am I going to change my clothes!! Do I sleep in my clothes, just pull my hair back in a ponytail, what do I do?? I'll just slip my arms through my shirt I am wearing, put my arms through the new shirt. And like magic, pull the one shift off and pull the new shirt over my head. YIKES this was going to be interesting!! All that thinking made me feel like I had to go pee. One small problem..........it's dark and there is an outhouse aways from my car. But there are still firefighters using it and standing around on their cell phones. I didn't want to be any more obvious that I've never done this, so I'd just have to wait until everyone goes to bed. By now my eyeballs are popping out my my head because I really had to go pee. So I swallowed my pride, held my cell phone in my hand and causally walked over to this "restroom". I walked in and set my phone on the toilet paper holder. If I flipped my phone on at the right moment, I'd be able to have about 30 seconds of light (enough to see the seat). I've never felt like it was such a chore to go pee. Why does it have to be so difficult for us to go to the bathroom, I mean men have it easy, even in the dark!!! I managed to not drop my cell phone in the "blackhole" which made me feel good. I used a bottle of water that I had in my car and some anti-bacterial soap to wash my hands. AGGHH the simple joys we have in life, that we don't appreciate until we don't have them.
