Oh the joy....

Hubby came home for a day, after being on 2 different fires.  Did all his laundry, spent some time with the family and enjoyed a quiet day at home.  The next day he was off again, to another fire assignment.  Oh the joys of fire season.  I'm thankful for the little time he's home, because I think of the military wives who don't get that and their husbands could be gone for months.  I also have to remind myself that we joke (but it's true) "6 months a year he's mine and 6 months a year he's the government's".  He's always mine, but I try to remember that it's his job and he does it so we can have nice things.  I knew what he did when we got married, so it's no surprise to me.  When we first got married it was 21-day assignments, not 14-day assignments.

Oh man, the 21-day assignments are killer. I have been with my guy for nearly 5 years now, we were engaged on Christmas 2010 and spur of the moment we had a courthouse ceremony June 2011. 36 hours after saying "I Do" he was sent to the Wallow fire. He worked 14 days, had R&R in Alpine, AZ and then worked another 7 days. It was CRAZY!

My huby is stationed out of a city 585 miles away, wish i had the luxury of him coming home even just for a few hours.
