What's for lunch?

So the other day my husband brought home the remains of his "fire lunch" to share with our son.  I wanted to show you what our guys eat when on fires.  I guess if you're hungry, you'll eat what's served.  Me personally, I don't think I'd eat much...... LOL

Ham sandwich, baby carrots, orange, apple, cheez-it crackers, cliff peanut butter bar, diced peaches cup, a tiger bar, some famous amos cookies, saltine crackers, gum, peanuts, jerky and packets of mayo and mustard.  Served in a brown bag.

We're not talking about a ham sandwich from Subway (LOL).  It's merely a couple pieces of ham, squished between two pieces of bread.

Yummy Smokey Snack.  Served in a box.
Of course if you don't like what's served for a sack lunch, or for some of our guys when they get "spiked out" and have no choices, the enjoy a delicously packaged "smokey snack" or MRE.
They pick up their lunches (or they're delivered) at the first part of their shift on the line each day.  Mind you, this is about 7-8 hours before it's actually eaten.  So all day or night, it's carried in their fire pack.

Funny thing is, I've never heard my husband (or others) complain of what they're given.  But this gives me an understanding of why my husband enjoys my handmade with love, homemade lunches.  This might be why they enjoy a good home-cooked meal when they come home from the fire, too.
