SLOW season.......

I'm hoping you'll post comments or email (wffwives@gmail.com) your stories for this post.

This fire season, so far has been (for most) really S....L...O...W compared to previous seasons.

Share with me your thoughts on this slow season and how your husband handles the lack of calls.  I love having hubby home, but I also see how he'd really like to be out fighting a fire.  I'm not sure what or how to write about it, so I want to hear your thoughts.

Fire season in WA State has been anything but slow! I had just gotten used to having the hubby around a lot, and even started getting excited that he was going to be able to spend the 4th of July at the lake with friends and family (for once in SIX YEARS). Of course, I jinxed it though! The hard part about it all is that he has been gone twice for 12 days...so no paid days off :(

But yes slower, especially compared to last year. I feel for the seasonal fire fighters that are trying to get experience and work on their quals for a permanent position. No fires= no moving up the ladder this season and also less money for college and life for those kids,

Our fire season has been relatively slow as well. I could tell he was getting anxious to get out and his mood reflected that (not intentionally). He is just finishing up his first roll in Oregon and should be headed back home this weekend. We plan to have some good quality family time because he just told me today that he will be available again as soon as his two days of R&R are done. We keep in touch as often as time and cell coverage permits. Thank goodness for FaceTime!

Here in California, the fire season has been incredibly busy. This season has been way worse than last. My husband has been gone for 55 days (but who's counting LOL)...
