Standard Firefighting Orders for a Wife of a Fireman
- Base all plans on current and expected fire behavior that way you won't be surprised when he gets sent on a fire, and all your family plans get canceled.
- Identify yard work that you have to do and safely use the proper yard tools.
- Ensure your direct deposit is set up correctly. These reasons are self explanatory.
- Remain calm. When your husband calls and tells you he's working his days off.
- Be thankful for that you are the "WIFE (wear that with pride)" of a Fireman.
- Leave clear instructions of "honey-dos" for days off and insure they are understood.
- Maintain a loving home for them to come back to and relax.
- Pray for your husband & his crew's safety until they come home.
- Maintain control of your children and the pets, despite your feelings of fatigue.
- Know that he fights fire aggressively, having provided for his safety first.

Those are very cute! But, I don't think I'm validated to give my opinion since I'm not a WIFE!
Funny! But oh so true!
We know that we can not plan fun summer vacations like the rest of America because of Fire Season...and direct deposit is a must; you never know when he will be able to deposit that check...lol
Love the 10 Standards! The following should be edited in though:
Remain calm and pleasant on the phone. If it is important enough to argue about, it can wait until they get home.
You don't want your sweetie thinking about your complaints, arguments, or bad news from home when they should be focusing on fireline safety.

Not a wife but a girlfriend. Those orders are so true. This is my first summer dating a helitack firefighter and I am trying to adjust to our plans get shifted every week. It sucks, frankly, but I want to get used to it. Just takes a little time.
This is my 3rd summer dating my fiance. During the months of May-Oct. Always say good bye in the morning like they are going on a 14 or 21 day fire. This morning I was rushed to get to work for a meeting and did not give the proper good bye kiss and he left in the middle of day unexpectedly. :( Luckily he didn't think anything of it.
