A simple prayer from a WFF child

Our son, is getting old enough to understand what his Daddy does and when he'll be home again.  However, at night he always says "Mommy, I really miss Daddy, when is he coming home?"  So like this assignment that hubby is on now, we know when his 14 is up and his travel home, so I mark it on our calendar.  Then our son gets so happy to count how many more days before Daddy comes home.  I tell him, "When Daddy's fire is out, he'll come home."  So tonight as we were saying our nightime prayers, I said

"Dear Jesus, please help keep Daddy & his crew safe and strong."  Our son said,
"and Jesus, could you please put Daddy's fire out, because I want him home soon. AMEN

Ugh, it's those little words out of the mouth of a child that just melt your heart.  Their innocence and their sincerity are just amazing!!  Tomorrow night, I'll try to record our prayer, so Daddy can hear him say it (when he gets home).

I've been the thankful and feeling very loved, every evening.  He's been spiked out on his fire, yet at night probably when they head to their camp, he'll send me a simple text like "Goodnight, I love you." or "Goodnight, miss you guys." and those are so special to me.  I almost feel more loved getting those than an actual conversation.  Just to know that at that moment, he put down his tools and took off his gloves, to text me.    I pray that your husband (or boyfriend as some of you have mentioned) text you a simple phrase or code.  I pray that they know we need those little words to help get through our sleepless nights and stressful days.

Hi! I realize after following your blog for a few months (ever since the Yarnell fire)I don't know your name. But I wanted to give you a couple of links that I think you should share on the blog. There are petitions going around to support wildland firefighters and improve their compensation among other things. My boyfriend of 4 years is a WFF and I love coming here and getting support from people who understand what it's like! Here are the links:
